This is a known issue and we are working on fixing it. Unfortunately the only work around at this time is to keep trying (sometimes it will just work even though you had been previously getting the error), or come to campus. The books are both working for me right now in the library.
I apologize for the frustration. We are hoping this gets fixed soon!
