Q. Would the Criss Library be interested in acquiring novels written by a professor at UNMC?
Dear Criss Library Staff,
My name is Steve Caplan, and I am a professor of biochemistry at UNMC. I have written 3 novels of a new genre that we call "LabLit;" that is dedicated to exploring the lives of scientists. Indeed, I see that you do carry my first novel, Matter Over Mind. However, I have published 2 more novels, "Welcome Home, Sir" (Anaphora Literary Press) and "A Degree of Betrayal" (Big Table Publishing Company) that may be of interest to students and faculty. The latter novel which has just been launched, deals with the sometimes problematic intersection of students and graduate mentors, and is actually a mystery that takes place at a major medical center here in Omaha.
I have copies of all my novels for sale (www.stevecaplan.net), and they are of course available on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B006CSULBW). I am also happy to do book signings, should there be any interest.
If you have any questions for me, please don't hesitate (cell phone: 402-650-3876). I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your suggestion. We like to support local authors, especially those in the University of Nebraska system. I will look into adding your novels to our collection. In the future feel free to email me directly as the subject librarian most likely to purchase fiction.
