I have a book collection I have inherited from a retired faculty. I am not prepared to manage a loan program, but am interested in making it more accessible to others in the community. Ideas? Also - what do you know about Amazon's Shelfari http://www.shelfari.com/ or other software to help a community of interest build a local collection for use?
If you are considering donating items, Bob Nash (402) 554-2884 would be the best one to speak with about the collection. We haven't used Shelfari for generating local interest, though we have used Pinterest and Facebook for similar purposes. Shelfari appears to be similar to Goodreads, another book-oriented social media network, and libraries have been known to use LibraryThing to connect with readers and assist in book recommendations. Here is a blog review on Shelfari vs. Goodreads vs. LibraryThing: http://ilmk.wordpress.com/2013/04/16/comparing-goodreads-shelfari-and-librarything/
