I am searching for historical book reviews. I have discovered that your library has a subscription to "British Periodicals," an electronic database, that my current university, UNL, does not. Could you please help me? I am looking for historical book reviews of the following two titles:
--"A World of Girls: The Story of a School" by L. T. Meade (1886)
--"Red Rose and Tiger Lily; or, In a Wider World" by L. T. Meade (1894)
Would a librarian be willing to conduct a search for me on your "British Periodicals" electronic database and let me know if they discover historical book reviews of these two titles? I would be very grateful for any help you could give me.
Hi I ended up using a source called Books in Print. I tried using the British Periodicals and couldn't find the books. With Books in Print I clicked Advanced Search, typed in the title, and towards the bottom I clicked on Reviewed By all. That way you can see the books that are reviewed. For "A World of Girls" there is a review from School Library Journal which is a credible source. I did try searching for the other titles, I can't seem to find anything with them. You're more then welcome to try back again tonight at 9p.m. That's when a new Reference Worker will be in. You can call the desk at 402-554-2661. I can also suggest contacting Jim Shaw who is a subject specialist on history. You can reach him at: 402-554-3215. Have a good night.
