Q. Is there a membership access to newspapers online for students, WSJ, NYT, or Washington Post?
My name is James Rafferty and I am a student in the Graduate School for Political Science. In my upcoming seminar class students have to write 4 response papers to articles in either the WSJ, NYT, or Washington Post. As a frequent user of these websites I know that they limit your access to articles if you do not have a website membership. Once you have read a certain amount of articles they will not allow you to access the full articles anymore. My fear is that I will not be able to properly research these websites without a membership. I was wondering if there is a student username and password to be able to have unlimited access to these websites so that students can properly research and not have to pay the fee. Thanks for your help, I contacted my professor and he suggested I use this function to determine whether or not this function was available for students.
We have access to all three of those papers through various online databases (to see which ones, enter each paper's title in the search box on this screen: http://unomaha.worldcat.org/openurlresolver/search). You will be able to get articles directly through these databases if you are on campus. If you are working off-campus, you will have to enter your student ID number and password. Once you have done that, you can do everything at home that you can here.
