As a UNO graduate or an employee of the university (UNMC) can I access your on-line newspaper holdings. Also do these holdings include old issues? I know in the past that if you donated to the university you could check books out. However, I never know which of the multiply requests for money I receive is the correct one to donate to for library access.
You are welcome to search the newspaper databases on the public access computers here at the library, but off-campus access is restricted by publishers' licenses to only currently-enrolled UNO students.
Several of the newspaper databases include scanned images of articles and pages (for example, New York Times; The Times (London); and Early American Newspapers). The Access World News and LexisNexis Academic databases, however, include only the texts of articles.
Our research guide, Primary Sources for Historical Research , includes a page on newspapers and a page on primary source databases. These should help you identify what we have available.
UNO graduates who join the UNO Alumni Association have library borrowing privileges, but this does not include off-campus access to the databases. Information about the Alumni Card is available here .
